“According to some sources, the Easter bunny first arrived in America in the 1700s with German immigrants who settled in Pennsylvania and transported their tradition of an egg-laying hare called ‘Osterhase’ or ‘Oschter Haws.’ Their children made nests in which this creature could lay its colored eggs. Eventually, the custom spread across the U.S. and the fabled rabbit’s Easter morning deliveries expanded to include chocolate and other types of candy and gifts, while decorated baskets replaced nests. Additionally, children often left out carrots for the bunny in case he got hungry from all his hopping.“Easter is a religious holiday, but some of its customs, such as Easter eggs, are likely linked to pagan traditions. The egg, an ancient symbol of new life, has been associated with pagan festivals celebrating spring. From a Christian perspective, Easter eggs are said to represent Jesus’ emergence from the tomb and resurrection. Decorating eggs for Easter is a tradition that dates back to at least the 13th century, according to some sources. One explanation for this custom is that eggs were formerly a forbidden food during the Lenten season, so people would paint and decorate them to mark the end of the period of penance and fasting, then eat them on Easter as a celebration.” From History.com

The traditions of colored eggs hidden from children by a rabbit is genius when viewed from a higher perspective. The multiplicity of the rabbit’s creative ability reminds us of the infinite potentiality of the universe in which we exist. The rabbit’s ability to create “eggs” or seeds of possibility to which we humans add our creative touches of color and design parallels our own process of manifesting. Notice that the “egg-laying hare” is not duplicating itself but creating a seed for manifestation of something wonderful.

Notice that the process of hiding the eggs among ordinary, everyday places for children, attracted by the eggs’ stimulating colors and designs. Easter bunny hiding eggs is a story of how creation works in this dimension. The eggs are actually a type of self-contained “seed” of life when “fertilized” duplicates the Source of the seed. As a self-contained “seed” the egg possesses everything necessary to reproduce itself. The message being that we, as “seeds” of the Source or God contain everything necessary to reproduce God as self – our God Self. However, we need to be fertilized to birth the fullness of our God Self.

The secrets of the Easter Egg tradition are the keys to creation in our dualistic dimension of reality. We unconsciously adopt these secrets embodied in our celebration of Easter. Bringing these secrets and their meanings to conscious awareness helps to enrich our recognition and awareness of how this dimension operates and how we create what we get in life.

Easter Blessings to you and yours.
